According to experts, fires not due to climate change. In fact, according to a leading expert, linking NSW forest fires with climate change is “nonsense”.

Certainly, a forest fire that spreads uncontrollably in forest or wild terrain, affecting plant fuels, flora and fauna. A forest fire is distinguished from other types of fire by its wide range, the speed with which it can be extended from its place of origin, that has the potential to change direction unexpectedly, and the ability to overcome obstacles such as roads, rivers, and firewalls.

It should be noted that earlier this week, Packham confirmed its position on what is causing the current severe forest fire conditions. He also said that fuel loads remain the central issue.

Exactly, “The most important (factor) is the dryness of the fuel, which comes from the hot dry weather.”

Gradual process

The retired researcher at Monash University, David Packham, says that global warming is a gradual process that does not explain the major forest fires.

The vice leader of the Greens, Adam Bandt, has been accused of playing politics by linking the forest fires of New South Wales with the climate change policies of the new federal government. But Mr. Packham says there is no link.

Mr. Packham previously accused the “conservationists of coffee with milk” of having too much influence on forest management. Likewise, he has expressed that the fuel loads are now the heaviest since the human occupation of the continent and that aboriginal methods must be adopted.

In addition, Packham said that Western Australia had successfully reduced fuel for decades and that up to 20 percent of thickets should be burned annually. He said there had been major fires every 10 to 20 years since the records began in 1915.

Packham called for the purpose of playing politics with forest fires and, instead, asked for leadership based on scientific evidence.
