Iran’s gamble on a tanker seizure will end its credit — even among friends

Iran’s bid to seize an oil tanker will end its credit, even among friends. And it is necessary to indicate that, by constantly increasing its bets in an international bluff game, Iran has opted for a bet that its supporters must believe is worthwhile, but that without a doubt will end with their lines of credit even between friends.

In this way, it could be said that the seizure of a foreign oil tanker whom he accuses of “violating international regulations”, Tehran has resorted to a form of piracy in international waters.

Clearly, Iran has legitimate frustrations over the withdrawal of the United States from the nuclear agreement that was supposed to change, limiting its nuclear program to end economic sanctions. Thus, at a time when Iran could have started to win friends and influence people in the corridors of world power, it is in a position which undoubtedly demonstrates that it could really be the dangerous instability force that its enemies most ardent have affirmed.

Support for Iran

It is appropriate to mention that currently the United Kingdom, France, Germany, China, the European Union agree. In fact, it has been said that they have been horrified by US sanctions against a nation that, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency, had fulfilled its obligations under the agreement.

Similarly, Germany, France, and Britain have been working to circumvent US sanctions and thus grant Iran’s leadership, which accepted the nuclear deal on the objections of hard-line supporters, a financial boost in return.

Even so, the clearly moderate voices in Tehran have been silenced. Being that Javad Zarif, the foreign minister, can no longer enjoy a regretful understanding among his international colleagues when he mocks White House “Team B”, a term he coined to highlight links between the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, national security adviser John Bolton, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, with regard to politics on Iran.

As a result, the moment they began to use the term, it was the Americans who broke treaties and international agreements on the environment and went against international norms and conventions. Now Iran has joined in a dive to the bottom of the barrel.
